About
What is the Clube Nórdico?
In fact, the roots of the Nordic Club in Portugal go back as far as to the fifties, when the Friday Club started its activities, each Friday as the name tells, with a lunch in the Danish Sailor Church. The profit was 500 Escudos, all of which was used on charity. Quite a sum then.
Our aim is to strengthen the contacts among the Nordic Communities in Portugal and promote cultural and social exchange with Portugal. Today, around 250 Nordic, Portuguese and other nationalities are individual or family members.
Why join the Clube Nórdico?
You will soon find out what an excellent network the Club has when it comes to support both newcomers as well as those who have lived in Portugal for a while, providing a variety of events and activities that keep our traditions alive and also make them known outside the Nordic Communities.
As a member you will also be part of significant events, such as raising funds for people in need.
Charity
Being a non-profit association makes us able to contribute to one of the most gratifying activity for our members: raising money for charities. We believe this is a meaningful way to work together with the Portuguese Community for a common purpose.
Activities
The Club organises at least one monthly social or cultural activity trying to satisfy all tastes and ages of our members. This can, for example, be a dinner dance, beach barbecue or a visit to Roman ruins.
Some events have become a tradition, like the Walpurgis Party the last day of April, the Sardine Party and the Midsummer Festivity in June, the Crayfish Party in September, the Christmas Bazaar last Saturday in November and the Christmas lunch in December.
Publications
All members receive a monthly Info-Letter with news from the Board of Directors, coming activities, events, etc.
